| By:
BOX SCORE SUDBURY, Ont. (January 17, 2014) - The Queen's men's basketball team (7-6) suffered a tough road game loss against the Laurentian Voyageurs (9-4) 84-76 in Sudbury Friday night.

The Gaels were off to a good start after a long bus ride to Sudbury, leading the Voyageurs 21-18 going into the second quarter. Queen's was unable to maintain their momentum with Laurentian outscoring the Gaels 21-14 and taking the lead going into half time. Although the Voyageurs accumulated 26 turnovers on the night, they shot 50% from the floor and outrebounded Queen's 40-30. This effecient play on both ends kept Laurentian with the lead for the rest of the game. Tychon Carter-Newman of the Voyageurs was the centre piece to this efficiency as he finished the night with 17 points, shooting 6-8 from the floor, and 11 rebounds.

Queen's fought back in the fourth, cutting the lead down to six points with under two minutes remaining. Greg Faulkner (Kingston, Ont.) and Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) led the offensive momentum, but it was not enough for a come back. The Voyageurs took the home win, handing the Gaels their sixth loss of the season.

Faulkner of the Gaels led all scorers with 28 points, while Nelson Yengue of Laurentian had a team high of 22.

The Gaels are at Algoma University (3-10) Saturday night to play the Thunderbirds at 8pm.
