Women's Field Hockey at UofT's Varsity Stadium

This past weekend the woman's field hockey team traveled to Toronto to play at the Varsity Blues Stadium. Their first game was against the Guelph Gryphon's. The first half was a well-fought battle between the two teams, with no goals being scored by either team. The second half the Gaels managed to be the first team to put the ball into the back of the net, goal scored by fourth year forward Kara Pouge (#15). With 10 minutes left in the game the Gryphon's gave it one last push scoring 3 goals. Although it was an upsetting loss, the girls know what has to be done when they take them on again in two weeks. Final score 3-1 for Guelph. 
On Sunday morning the girls took on the York Lions taking their second win of the season 4-2. First goal was scored by 5th year Amber Halcovitch off a short corner ball from 2nd year Lauren Taylor. Second goal was scored by 4th year defenseman Fiona Downey off another short corner. Third goal was scored by 2nd year Lauren Taylor with a beautiful shot off the top off the circle, The final goal was scored by Amber Halcovitch in the second half with a pass from 1st year Taylor Herrington. 
The final game of the weekend was played against McGill, with a final score of 0-0. The girls played a great game however could not find the back of the net. They are looking forward their weekend in Guelph where they will face Waterloo and York.
