June is National Athletic Therapy Month

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (June 4, 2013). Queen's Athletics & Recreation Therapy Zone celebrates National Athletic Therapy Month.

Athletic therapists are best known for their quick-thinking on-field emergency care of professional and major games athletes. And it's that same mix of on-site emergency care and active rehabilitation skills that makes them so effective in treating the musculoskeletal (muscles, bones and joints) injuries of all Canadians, whether on the field or in the clinic. Certified Athletic Therapists, CAT(C)s, are skilled in injury prevention, emergency and acute care, assessment and rehabilitation of injuries as well as custom conditioning programs to prevent further injury. They base their treatments on the Sports Medicine Model of active rehabilitation, providing a fast return to health following an injury.

The Therapy Zone is located in the Queen's Athletics & Recreation Centre, and serves Queen's athletes, students, staff, faculty, and the Kingston Community as well.
