No. 5 Patriotes beat Gaels 7-3

BOX SCORE TROIS RIVIERES, Que. (February 9, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels (10-11-7) fell to the No. 5 UQTR Patriotes (21-6-1) 7-3 on Saturday afternoon in Quebec.

The Gaels got off to a great start early in the game taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Kelly Jackson (Toronto) and a shorthanded marker from Joey Derochie (Sudbury, Ont.). The Patriotes responded with two goals in the first period of their own to tie the game after one frame at 2-2.

From there on it was all UQTR who was led by Felix Petit who finished with a four point night registering one goal and three assists. The Patriotes outscored the Gaels 3-1 in the second and then added two more in the third to finish off the Gaels 7-3.

Queen's and UQTR played a rough game on Saturday afternoon as the two teams combined for 89 minutes in penalties.

The Gaels now advance to the OUA playoffs where they will meet the OUA East number two seed Carleton Ravens in the first round with dates still to be determined.
