BOX SCORE LONDON, Ont. (November 8, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels lost to the Western Mustangs 69-60 on Friday night in London.
Liz Boag (Kingston, Ont.) finished with a team high 14 points for the Gaels while
Robyn Pearson (Toronto, Ont.) and
Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) had strong performances under the boards, adding five offensive rebounds each. Jenny Vaughan (Dundas, Ont.) stole the show for the Western Mustangs, scoring a team high of 21 points, while Kayelyn Leddy (London, Ont.) led the team with 11 rebounds.
Western had a lot of momentum during the first quarter, putting up 16 points to the Gaels 13. With some strong defensive play in the second quarter, the Gaels managed to gain the lead in the second quarter by four points. At the end of the first half the Gaels led the Mustangs 33-32.
The Mustangs held off the Gaels in the last two quarters of the game and closed out the win in the fourth quarter putting up 21 points to the Gaels 17. The Mustangs finished with a 69-60 victory over the Queen's Gaels.
The Gaels had a strong performance under the boards with 25 rebounds to the Mustangs 23, and matched the Mustangs with six turnovers.
The Gaels return to action tomorrow evening with a road game against Windsor. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 pm.
