LONDON (November 3, 2013 )- In their third consecutive penalty shootout, the women's soccer team beat the Carleton Ravens 4-2 after playing to a scoreless draw through regular time to capture OUA bronze for the second year in a row.

Alex Blanchard (North Vancouver), and
Tara Bartram (Vancouver) beat Carleton's keeper Elizabeth MacDougall with their penalty kicks.

MacDougall made seven saves in the Ravens' losing effort, and converted her penalty kick along with teammate Abby Nicastro.

Madison Tyrell (White Rock, B.C.) stood tall in the Gaels net, allowing only two goals on the Ravens four penalty kicks. Tyrell recorded four clean-sheets in the Gaels' four playoff games, saving all 5 of the Ravens' shots during regulation of the bronze-medal tilt.

The Gaels finished this year's regular season fourth in the OUA East at 7-2-7, one spot behind Carleton. En route to the bronze medal, Queen's steamrolled Laurentian 6-0 before beginning their penalty kick streak in a 1-0 victory against top-ranked Ottawa, and then lost their OUA semi-final 1-0 to No. 1 Western to set up Sunday's match against Carleton. The third-place finish ends the Gaels' three-year streak of competing at the CIS National Championship.
