Faulkner leads Gaels over Lions on the road

| By:
BOX SCORE TORONTO (November 29, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels (6-3) win on the road against the York Lions (5-4) on Friday night, taking the victory 73-55.

The game commenced with a quick three by the Lions, but the Gaels responded fast taking the lead early and heading into the second quarter with a 16-11 advantage. By the half, York had cut the margin down to four, trailing the Gaels 34-30.  The third quarter opened with a three ball by Greg Faulkner (Kingston, Ont.), three of his 21 points on the night. Three-point land was the Gaels biggest asset in the contest, as they shot 33% from behind the arc while York went 2-22. Although they had a better offensive showing, the Gaels could not completely shake the Lions for good. This changed in the fourth quarter when Queen's went on to out score their opponent 22-12.

Faulkner led all scorers with 21 points, followed by Roshane Roberts (Vaughan, Ont.) who contributed 13. Another worthy stat line is that of second year Andrew Mavety (Vancouver) who went 3-5 from three point range in 10 minutes of play. Ryan Ejim of the Lions led his team with 15 points while Nick Tufegdzich grabbed a double-double of 12 points and 12 boards.

The Gaels play their next league game on January 4 against the York Lions at the Athletic and Recreation Center at 8pm.
