| By:
BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (November 2, 2013) - Queen's (3-0-4) lost in a shootout 3-2 to UOIT (2-4-1) on Saturday night at the Memorial Center in OUA hockey action.

The Gaels were the first to score at the Memorial Centre on Saturday as Kelly Jackson (Toronto) scored in the second minute of play off an assist from Joey Derochie (Sudbury, Ont.).

Queen's extended their lead with a goal by Chris Van Laren (Kingston, Ont.) in the second period, his first as a Gael. Four penalties called against UOIT kept them short handed for much of the first two periods which helped the Gaels hold on to their 2-0 lead heading into the third.

UOIT's offensive aggression picked up with Nate Mitton scoring his team's first goal of the night, and Jason Shaw scoring on a power play late in the third.

At the end of regulation, the game was tied at 2-2 sending the game into a shootout. James Woodcroft of UOIT scored the winning goal in the third round of the shootout against the Gaels for the win.

Chris Clarke (Fall River, N.S.) got the start for Queen's and made 33 saves in a losing effort.

Queen's men's hockey (3-0-4) is back on the ice next Friday when they host U of T (5-3-0) at the Memorial Center.
