BOX SCORE WATERLOO, Ont. (November 16, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels (4-2) celebrated their fourth win of the season with the final score of 61-57 over the Waterloo Warriors (0-5) in Waterloo Saturday night.
Greg Faulkner (Kingston,Ont.) finished with a team high 18 points for the Gaels while
Nikola Misljencevic (Ottawa) had a strong performance under the boards contributing 12 rebounds. Matt Glibota (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) led the warriors with 17 points while also contributing eight rebounds.
Waterloo had the upperhand over the Gaels in the first quarter scoring 18 points to the Gaels 15. The second quarter saw the Warriors struggling to make a basket, while the Gaels penetrated the Waterloo defense to score 13 points, bringing the score at half to a close 28-27 match.
The second half once again saw the Waterloo Warriors pushing hard for the win, scoring 19 points, with the Gaels only putting up 16. The fourth quarter of the game had the Gaels score 17 points while the Warriors managed to put up only 11 points, allowing the Gaels to clinch the win with a final score of 61-57.
The Gaels had a strong performance on the evening making 30.4% of their shots from behind the arc and over half of their free throws. Queen's had a strong performance under the boards with 50 rebounds to Waterloos 23, however the Warriors turned the ball over fewer times than the Gaels which contributed to close scoring margin of the game.
The men face the McMaster Marauders at home next Friday at 8pm at the ARC.
