BOX SCORE OSHAWA, Ont. (October 25, 2013) -
Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) and
Nadia Larocca (Mississauga, Ont.) each had four points as the No. 5 Gaels (5-0-1) beat the UOIT Ridgebacks (4-3) 5-2 on Friday night in Oshawa.
Larocca scored her lone goal early in the third period and it held up as the game winner.
Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) got the start for the Gaels and made 32 saves for the win.
Queen's got things rolling early when
Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) scored her fifth goal of the season in the first period.
Mary Coughlin (Amherstburg, Ont.) and Larocca added the assists. Queen's was outshot 6-2 in the period but went to the dressing room with a one goal advantage.
In the second period Pilon and Gaels captain
Morgan McHaffie (Guelph, Ont.) scored for Queen's to put the Gaels in control with a 3-0 lead.
UOIT managed to beat Dodd-Moher in the third as Katie Dillon scored twice for the Ridgebacks. The Gaels were equal to the task scoring two goals of their own to finish with the 5-2 win.
McHaffie chipped in with a three point night for Queen's scoring twice.
Next up for Queen's is a a return home tomorrow as they host the York Lions at 7:30PM at the Memorial Centre in Kingston.
