Varsity Clubs Update - October 21, 2013

A recap of Varsity Club action from the past week.

Golf M/W
The women and men's golf team will playing at the OUA Championship hosted by Wilfrid Laurier. The women will play at the Cambridge G.C and the men at the Grey Silo G.C. The teams started with a practice round on Sunday and competitive rounds begin Monday and Tuesday. Oct. 21 and 22.

Representing Queen's on the women's team will be:-
1. Jenn Kates (Newmarket,Ont.) Captain
2. Alex Rawn (Toronto)
3. Mischi Buszowski (Canmore, Alta.)
4. Emily Welsh(Bancroft, Ont.)

Representing the men will be:-
1. Russell Bowie (Mississauga, Ont.) Captain
2. Cameron Lindsay (Toronto)
3. Jordan Gregoris (Aurora, Ont.)
4. Echo Chan (Kingston, Ont.)
5. Will Courchene (Carleton Place, Ont.)

The women placed 4th, in their last two Invitational Tournaments after starting slowly early in the season.
The men have a 1st, and 2nd finish in league play and are standing in 4th place overall.
In individual scoring Cameron Lindsay is 3rd, in all-star point and Russell Bowie is 6th, overall out of over 80 players.

Women's Ultimate
At the Canadian University Ultimate Championships Queen's finished with a 1-4 record. The team suffered an 8-9 loss against Sherbrooke, 3-13 loss against Ottawa and a 2-15 loss against McMaster before rebounding with a 11-7 win over Carleton. Queen's then beat Lakehead 9-4 but lost to Waterloo 8-7 and finished in 10th.

Women's Lacrosse
Leading scorer and player/coach Teresa Mayo lit up Brock over the weekend scoring four times in a 12 - 7 victory over the surging Brock Badgers. Captain Lesley Hamilton also notched a hat-trick and rookie MacKenzie Clemens had three assists in the victory.

Queen's is hosting the OUA Championship from November 1 -3 on Tindall Field.

Men's Lacrosse
On Friday night the Gaels hosted Trent at Tindall Field and came out on top with a 16-11 win. After trailing 2-0 early the Gaels stormed back with four straight goals. Queen's controlled the score the rest of the way for the win.

Brendan Zoehner led the Gaels with four points coming on two goals and two assists while Joshua Smith added a hat-trick.

Queens Men's lacrosse will be playing Trent in a home ¼ final playoff game this coming Saturday at North Field. Game time is 1:00 PM

The winner of this game will be proceed to the final 6 Baggataway Cup in Montreal, November 1-3 weekend.

Queen's Alumni showed great stamina and skill in a close Alumni game this past weekend as well.
