KINGSTON, Ont. (October 2, 2013) - In their second straight 8-0 win, the No. 7 Gaels bested the RMC Paladins at the West Campus Field on Wednesday night.
 
Breanna Burton (Ottawa) opened the floodgates in the 17
th minute, when she took a pass from 
Rachel Radu (Ottawa) in stride, stepped around Paladins keeper Emily Barnard, and buried the ball into the empty net. Chipping the keeper from 25 yards out, Radu got a goal of her own in the 20
th minute. Burton added another first-half tally, tapping in a cross from 
Jennifer Siu (London, Ont.) in the 34
th minute.
 
Riley Filion (Alexandria, Ont.) finished another Siu cross to make it 4-0 at halftime, and netted another early in the second frame, giving her five goals in her last two games.
 
The Paladins' best chance came in the 72
nd minute, after the referee called a handball against 
Alex Blanchard (North Vancouver, B.C.) inside the Gaels 18-yard box, giving RMC a penalty kick. Rhianna Koopman's attempt missed the left post by inches.
 
The Gaels finished the game with a pair of goals from 
Monique Czaczkowski (Thunder Bay, Ont.) and a last-minute blast from 
Brittany Almeida (Elginburg, Ont.).
 
On Homecoming weekend, the Gaels (6-1-3) host the No. 1 Ottawa Gee-Gees (8-0-2) on the West Campus Field at noon on Saturday.
