McKellar scores twice as Queen’s dumps Guelph 3-1

BOX SCORE NAPANEE, Ont. (October 19, 2013) – Rookie forward Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) netted two goals to lead the No. 6 Queen's Gaels over No. 9 Guelph Gryphons at the Strathcona Paper Centre in Napanee, Ont.
 
The defending OUA champion Gaels improve their record out of the gate to 4-0-1 while the Gryphons fall to 3-2-0.
 
McKellar opened the scoring at 14:02 of the first period on a pass from Jessica Wakefield (Lucan, Ont.) to take a 1-0 lead.
 
Queen's defenseman Courteany Jacklin (Regina, Sask.) notched her first career CIS goal early in the second period while McKellar added her second goal of the game late in the second to close out the Gaels offensive thrust. 
 
Gaels' Shawna Griffin (Redwood Meadows, Alta.) registered two assists in the game.
 
Guelph's Amanada Parkins added a meaningless goal at 5:27 of the third period to close out the scoring 3-1 in favour of the Gaels.
 
Queen's Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) collected her second win of the season making 23 saves.  Guelph's goalie Stephanie Nehring made 18 saves on 21 shots in the loss.
 
The Gaels next game is a road trip to Oshawa to face the UOIT Ridgebacks on Friday, October 25.
