A recap of Varsity Club action from the past week.

Women's Lacrosse: The women's Lacrosse team ran into a hot goalie at UOIT but were able to beat the netminder enough to take a 12-4 win. The Gaels outshoot the Ridgebacks 37-7 in the game. In a battle for top spot in the East division the Gaels took on Toronto next. The Varsity Blues hung on to take a 12-11 victory. Up next for the Gaels are a pair of games next weekend on the Scarborough campus at UofT on Saturday at 1:15pm against Brock and 4:45pm against UOIT.

Men's Lacrosse: The Gaels had a big weekend in two games against Concordia finishing with the first game with a 31-2 win and following up with a 22-2 win. The Gaels now sit in second place in the East Division of the CUFLA with a record of 6-3.

Sailing: This past weekend the Sailing Team traveled to Larchmont, New York for the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta.  Clifton Kartner, Mac Morrin, Peter Soosalu, Andrew Leriche, Sean Magee-Saxton, Connor Mackenzie, and Oliver Neal represented the Gaels at this highly competitive regatta that hosted in total 50 schools and nearly 500 collegiate sailors.  Sailing an Express 37 in the PHRF fleet, the Queen's team secured a second place finish out of ten schools.

On the Gaels homecoming weekend October 4-6 the Queen's Sailing Team hosted the Queen's Open regatta at the Kingston Yacht Club.  Schools from Canada and the northern United States traveled to Kingston for this competitive event in the MAISA division.  The Gaels sailed well on both days to solidify a third place finish, a mere five points out of second.  The team also welcomed alumni on Saturday with a post-race barbecue and is looking forward to the chance to do so again in this weekend. On the road, Linor Berezin, Julia Manarin, Joy MacDonald, and Simone Larose represented Queen's at the MAISA Women's Fall Championship, hosted by Hobart & William Smith.  Facing tough competition, the girls narrowly missed qualifying for the next event, finishing 9th.

Fastpitch: The Gaels women's fastpitch team finished with a 4-0 record this weekend. The Gaels first two wins came via forfeits over York. The Gaels hit the field on Saturday at Garrigan Park and beat Carleton narrowly 4-3 in the morning and followed up with a much more convincing 11-0 win over the Ravens in the afternoon affair.

Golf M/W: The women's golf team finished 4th and men's team 7th at the Toronto Invitational this past weekend at the Angus Glen Golf Club.  The women's team totalled a score of 280 points and were led by Jenn Kates who finished in 14th (tie) with an 86. On the men's side the team finished with a total of 325 for a 7th place finish and were led by Cameron Lindsay who shot a 77 to finish 17th (tie).
