Women's Rugby advances after 72-22 win over Trent in OUA quarter-final

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 11, 2013) - The Queen's women's rugby team beat the Trent Excalibur at home 72-22 in their OUA quarter-final match on Friday night at Nixon Field in Kingston.

Four Gaels finshed with multiple tries on the night and Lauren McEwen (Wasaga Beach, Ont.) added a try and six conversions.

The Gaels struck first in the game with a try but Trent hung in early and scored a try of their own with a successful conversion to go up 7-5.

This would be the only time the Excalibur would lead in the game however as the Gaels rattled off 67 more points with three tries each coming from Caitie Ryan (Kamloops, B.C.) and Karley Heyman (Harrowsmith, Ont.), two each from Bronwyn Corrigan (Waterloo, Ont.) and Miranda Seifert (Regina) and single try scores from McEwen and Claudia DiFrancesco (Brantford, Ont.).

Up next is the OUA semifinal for Queen's next week at Nixon field. Stay tuned to gogaelsgo.com for game time and opponent.
