BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (October 11, 2013) - The No. 6 Queen's women's hockey team picked up their first win of the season 1-0 over the visiting Nipissing Lakers on Friday night at the Memorial Centre in Kingston.

Clare McKellar (London, Ont.) scored her first career CIS goal and Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) stopped all 18 shots faced for the shutout.

McKellar broke the deadlock just under two minutes in to the second period. Megan Farrell (Barrie, Ont.) and Jessica Wakefield (Lucan, Ont.) added the two assists on the play. Farrell and Wakefield notched their first career CIS points with their assists.

From there on the Gaels stayed the course and Dodd-Moher shut the door stopping all five final shots from Nipissing coming in the third period.

Queen's now improves to 1-0-1 on the season and will take on the Laurentian Voyageurs tomorrow night at 7:30pm at the Memorial Centre.
