| By:
BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (January 23, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels (8-10-4) suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to the RMC Paladins (3-18-2) at the Kingston Memorial Centre Tuesday night in a preview to next week's Carr-Harris Challenge Cup game.

Despite an evenly paced start to the first period, the Paladins got on the board with a powerplay goal by Scott Domenico at the 15:04 mark. Queen's outshot the Paladins 11-8 in the first period.

The Gaels answered with their own powerplay goal to start the second period at the 4:26 mark scored by Kelly Jackson (Scarborough, Ont.); Tyler Moore (Winnipeg, Man.) and Jordan Mirwaldt (Winnipeg, Man.) had assists. The Gaels offensively dominated the rest of the second period outshooting RMC 12-6.

The Gaels and Paladins put up a number of scoring chances in the third period, however neither team was able to take the lead forcing the game into overtime. Scott McDonald (Halifax, N.S.) scored the gamewinner for the Paladins just 1:51 into overtime on their first shot of non-regulation play.

David Aime (Clandeboye, Man.) stopped 24 shots for the Gaels, while Paul Dorsey (Carp, Ont.) put up 35 saves for the Paladins. The two teams will meet again Thursday, January 31, for the Carr-Harris Challenge Cup at the K-Rock Centre.

The Gaels return to action Friday, January 25, as they host the Toronto Varsity Blues (12-7-4). Queen's is 1-2 against the Varsity Blues this season. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Kingston Memorial Centre.
