BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (January 12, 2013) - Greg Faulkner (Kingston, Ont.) and Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) both made key buckets to close out the game as the Gaels (9-3) edged the Laurentian Voyageurs (5-6) 84-82. Faulkner led all scorers with 24 points in the game and scored eight of the Gaels final 11 points to secure the win.

Laurentian wasted no time opening up a 7-3 lead thanks to the sharpshooting Manny Pasquale (Victoria) who nailed a three-point shot early on. The Gaels responded with a 10-0 run to get out in front, Nikola Misljencevic (Ottawa) nabbed back-to-back layups to keep the run moving for Queen's. After trading buckets, the Gaels finished the first quarter in front 17-15.

An 8-2 run to open the second quarter put the Gaels up 25-18, Queen's benefitted from strong defensive plays hauling in their rebounds and forcing Voyageur turnovers to keep the momentum in their favour. Laurentian kept the Gaels in check as they finished out the first half with just a one point advantage, 35-34.

In the third, Laurentian opened up their biggest lead of the game up by 10 points at one point over Queen's after Pasquale completed a four point play. The Gaels cut into the Voyageur lead, but trailed after three by five points 64-59.

Faulkner and Singh both played key roles for the Gaels in the fourth as they battled to keep Laurentian at bay. Trailing 77-73 with just over four minutes remaining Faulkner erupted the gym, nailing down eight straight points including back-to-back three pointers for the Gaels. Singh chipped in with the assists on all three Faulkner buckets then sealed the win with a steal followed by a hoop and harm three point play. Queen's came away with the victory in a close game 84-82.
