BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (January 12, 2013) - The Queen's Gaels (7-7-4) were unable to continue their win streak against the Ryerson Rams (7-12) falling 3-1 to the Rams at the Kingston Memorial Centre on Saturday night.
The Rams opened the scoring in the first period with a goal off of a pass that bounced off the boards at the 6:41 mark scored by Andrew Buck (Newmarket, Ont.). The Gaels evened the score with a powerplay goal at 13:28 scored by
Tyler Moore (Winnipeg, Man.);
Kelly Jackson (Scarborough, Ont.) and
Stephane Chabot (Rockland, Ont.) had the assists on the goal.
Ryerson's Kent McPherson (Stratford, Ont.) scored a powerplay goal at the 3:54 mark of the second period giving the Rams a one goal advantage. The Gaels had numerous scoring chances including a shot knocked off the post, however they were unable to capitalize. Jamie Haines (Sudbury, Ont.) added a third goal for Ryerson at 17:05 giving the Rams a 3-1 lead to end the second period. A late offensive surge from the Gaels was not enough to come back in the third period bringing the game to its final score of 3-1.
Riley Whitlock (Calgary) had 25 saves for the Gaels while
David Aime (Clandeboye, Man.) had 14 saves. Troy Passingham (Mississauga, Ont.) stopped 38 shots for the Rams to record the win.
The Gaels return to action Tuesday, January 15, as they host Carleton at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
