KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept. 5, 2012) – A pair of goals by Julia Francki (Orleans, Ont.) led the No. 3-ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees to a 3-0 win over the No. 1-ranked Queen's Gaels in OUA women's soccer action at the West Campus Field in Kingston.
Francki scored her first goal in the 40th
minute, leaving the Gee-Gees with a 1-0 lead at the half, and completed her brace in the 57th minute of play with a 30-yard strike. Chelsea Lanos (Ottawa, Ont.) put another goal on the board in the 68th minute off a corner kick.
The Gaels were forced to a predominantly defensive game and were unable to put up any shots in the first half, as there finally outshot 8-2.
Sabrina Carew (Thunder Bay, Ont.) for the Gaels played all 90 minutes and had 5 saves, while Ottawa's Cynthia Leblanc (Granby, Que.) made two saves and kept a clean sheet.
The Gaels (1-1-0) return to action on Saturday, September 8, as they head to Toronto to play the Ryerson Rams. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
