KINGSTON, Ont. – A hat trick by
Jackie Tessier (Winnipeg, Man.) led the No. 6-ranked Queen's Gaels to a 4-0 shutout of the Carleton Ravens in OUA women's soccer play in Ottawa, Wednesday. Tessier's first goal, in the seventh minute, was the 50th overall goal of her career. She added markers in the 68th and 90th minute as the Gaels improved to 6-1-2 on the year and into sole possession of second place in the OUA East.
The other Queen's goal came off the foot of
Jessie De Boer (North Vancouver, B.C.) in the 29th minute, giving the Gaels a 2-0 lead at the interval.
Queen's outshot Carleton 10-1, and
Sabrina Carew (Thunder Bay, Ont.) made one save to pick up the shutout. The clean sheet is the Gaels' sixth in nine league matches this season. Rachel Bedek made six saves and took the loss for the Ravens, who fall to 4-3-2 on the season.
The Gaels return to action on Saturday afternoon, as they visit RMC (3-6-0). Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m. at the Navy Bay Fields.
