No. 4 Gaels battle to scoreless draw against Carleton

| By:
KINGSTON Ont. (September 16, 2012) – The No. 4-ranked Queen's Gaels were held to a scoreless draw against the Carleton Ravens in OUA women's soccer action at the West Campus Field, Sunday afternoon.

The game was marked by strong defensive plays from the Gaels' fullbacks and a series of great corners throughout the match. Offensively, Queen's pressured the Carleton defence and had three of their four scoring opportunities from corner kicks in the first half.  Carleton matched the Gaels' efforts, with three shots of their own taken from outside the eighteen-yard box, however the shots could not get passed the Queen's goalkeeper Madison Tyrrell.

The second half mirrored the first, with Queen's outshooting Carleton three shots to two. Overall, the Gaels outshot the Ravens seven to five, but despite the numerous attempts at goal and the tremendous efforts put forth by both teams they could not find a goal, leaving the game at 0-0 score.

Anna Morsky made seven saves for the Ravens to pick up the shutout. For the Gaels, today's game is their fifth clean sheet in six games.

The Queen's Gaels (3-1-2) will take on the Nipissing Lakers (0-4-2) on Saturday, September 22nd at the West Campus Field. Kickoff is set for 12 noon.
