KINGSTON, Ont. (February 3, 2012) – The No. 10 Queen's Gaels (11-8-3) could not find a way to beat Erika Thunder of Buffalo Point, Man. and the Laurier Golden Hawks (22-0-1) in a 7-0 loss.
The Golden Hawks, number one in the country, scored two times in the first followed by two more in the second and three in the final period. Laurier has yet to lose this season in regulation and improved to 22-0-1 on the season.
Karissa Savage of Calgary got the start for the Gaels and made 25 saves in a losing effort,
Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont. stopped seven shots in relief. Thunder stopped all 23 shots from the Gaels for the shutout.
Andrea Shapero of Toronto, who had three goals and two assists, led the Golden Hawks while Jessie Hurrell of Palgrave, Ont. had a four point night with two goals and two helpers.
The Gaels will look to bounce back tomorrow night when they take on the Waterloo Warriors at the Memorial Centre at 7:30pm.
