BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (February 11, 2012) - The No. 5 Carleton Ravens (15-5) got the best of the Queen's Gaels (10-10) this Saturday evening in Kingston. The final score of the game was 67-53.
The Ravens came out energized going on a 11-3 run off the tip. The Gaels fought back with a 9-2 run of their own. The Gaels, however, could not score for the remaining four minutes in the opening quarter. The team went into the second quarter down 20-12. Both teams played great defense in the next frame, limiting the total points to under 10 apiece.
In the third quarter, the Ravens outscored the Gaels 21-15, extending their lead to 13. In the final period of play the Ravens extended their lead by one more and finished with a 67-53 win.
The Gaels were led once again by
Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont. who had eleven points while teammate and fellow graduating athlete
Christine Wallace of North Gower, Ont. finished with three points and three boards. The two athletes were honored after the game for their exceptional careers as Gaels. Moore will finish her career with the most points in Gaels history and currently sits third among the OUA. Wallace returned this season to the Gaels starting lineup after battling back from injury that forced her to miss all of the 2010-11 season.
The Gaels are back in action next Friday versus York University in Toronto. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm.
