Gaels rally to road win against Guelph Gryphons

BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. - The Queen's Gaels rallied after losing the first set to oust the host Guelph Gryphons, 3-1 (15-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-19), in OUA women's volleyball action on Friday evening at the W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre in Guelph.
 
Initially, Queen's could not find an answer to Guelph's efficient attack, as the Gryphons had a 47 percent kill percentage, recording 10 kills against only one error. Queen's, on the other hand, committed six errors allowing Guelph to score easy points.

The second set was tight but saw Queen's pull out a narrow 25-23 victory. Queen's recorded 15 of their 51 kills in the second set.

Queen's was disciplined in the third and fourth sets, committing only nine errors combined, compared to Guelph's 13. Queen's was more commanding upfront as well in the third and fourth recording a combined 26 kills versus the Gryphons' 21.

Colleen Ogilvie (Calgary, Alta.) was the Gaels points leader with 14--13 being kills. Queen's setter Anna Pedjase (Waterloo, Ont.) was the game leader in assists notching 34, while Guelph's entire team only recorded 33. Gryphons' left side Julie Gordon (Barrie, Ont.) had a match-high 16.5 points.
 
The Gaels (4-2) continue their road trip on Saturday in Waterloo, where they visit the Warriors. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
