Gaels pick up 4-1 win over Rams in women's hockey

BOX SCORE TORONTO – Courtenay Jacklin (Regina, Sask.) scored two goals leading the Queen's Gaels to a 4-1 win over the Ryerson Rams in OUA women's hockey on Friday night at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.
 
The Gaels opened the scoring early in the first period with a goal scored by Chantal Morais (Guelph, Ont.) at 2:26. Shawna Griffin (Redwood Meadows, Alta.) quickly added another goal for the Gaels at the 4:04 mark in the first period, giving Queen's a 2-0 advantage.

The Gaels started the second period off with a goal by Jacklin at 1:55. The remainder of the second period was scoreless and the Gaels carried their 3-0 lead into the third period.
 
Jacklin got a second goal at the 6:13 mark in the third period putting the Gaels up 4-0. The Rams avoided a shut out with a late goal scored by Stephanie Christe (Nobleton, Ont.) at 14:08 bringing the game to its final score of 4-1.
 
Queen's was 0-for-4 on the power play and Ryerson was 0-for-8. Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) had 27 saves for the Gaels and Brianna Tremblay (Whitby, Ont.) had 24 saves for the Rams.
 
The Gaels are now 9-1-1 in the regular season and the Rams move to 2-7.
 
The Gaels return to action Saturday, November 10, as they host the York Lions (4-5-1) at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
