Gaels top Ridgebacks 5-2 in men's hockey

BOX SCORE OSHAWA, Ont. – Jordan Mirwaldt (Winnipeg, Man.) scored a pair of goals in Oshawa leading the Queen's Gaels to 5-2 win over UOIT in men's hockey Friday night.
 
Tyler Moore (Winnipeg, Ont.) scored a quick goal at the 1:07 mark of the first period to get the Gaels an early lead. Just minutes later, Taylor Clements (Toronto, Ont.) added another for Queen's at 3:28.
 
The Gaels carried their 2-0 lead into the second period, however Scott Baker got the Ridgebacks on the board with a goal at 4:57. The Gaels put up many shots and Mirwaldt scored a power play goal at 14:55 putting the score at 3-1 to end the second period.
 
Tony Rizzi added another goal for the Ridgebacks at the 5:27 mark in the third period. The Gaels answered with one of their own at 6:40 scored by Brock Ouellet (Lindsay, Ont.). Mirwaldt added a second power play goal at 17:31 brining the game to its final score of 5-2.
 
Riley Whitlock (Calgary, Alta.) stopped 24 shots in net for the Gaels and Bryce O'Hagen stopped 45 shots for the Ridgebacks. The Gaels are now 4-2-2 and the Ridgebacks are 5-3-1.
 
The Gaels return to action Saturday, November 10, as they travel to Guelph to play the Gryphons (6-4-1). Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
