Gaels badger their way to a 6-4 win over Brock in men's hockey

BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. – Six different Gaels scored for Queen's, leading the men's hockey team to a 6-4 win over the Brock Badgers at the Kingston Memorial Centre Friday night.
 
The Gaels got off to a quick start with a goal by Patrick McEachen (Stouffville, Ont.) from the blue line at 3:17 with assists by Kelly Jackson (Scarborough, Ont.) and Tyler Moore (Winnipeg, Man.). Andrew Wiebe (Thunder Bay, Ont.) tapped in a pass from Steve Schmidt (Campbell River, B.C.) at 8:05 for another Gaels goal. Just 21-seconds later, Corey Bureau (Amherstview, Ont.) scored another goal for the Gaels. At 8:58 Jesse Ferras (Ottawa, Ont.) scored for the Gaels with assists by Braeden Corbeth (Oakville, Ont.) and Jordan Soquila (Maple Ridge, B.C.). With three goals in under a minute, the Gaels held a 4-0 lead over the Badgers.
 
The Badgers got on the board at 12:03 with a goal by Jordan Gignac (Hamilton, Ont.). The Gaels brought their advantage back to four goals with Moore scoring at 15:36 with assists by Jackson and Bureau. Sean Jones (Newmarket, Ont.) scored a second goal for Brock at 17:07 bringing the score to 5-2. Just 43 seconds later Jones added a third goal for the Badgers making the score 5-3 to end the first period.
 
Both teams picked up the pace defensively in the second period. Jones got a hat trick with a third goal for the Badgers at 14:02 in the second period making the score 5-4.
 
The defensive action continued through the third period, however the Gaels solidified the win with a power play goal in the third period scored by Joseph Luongo (Concord, Ont.) at 9:19 bringing the game to its final score of 6-4.
 
The Gaels move to 3-2-1 while Brock is now 3-3-1. Riley Whitlock (Calgary, Alta.) had 31 saves for the Gaels.  Dalton McGrath (Toronto, Ont.) stopped 14 shots for the Badgers and Kody Blois (Belnan, N.S.) added 4 saves.
 
The Gaels return to action tomorrow as they host the Nipissing Lakers at the Memorial Centre. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
