KINGSTON, Ont. – A 90th-minute goal by Lucas Lobo gave the No. 7-ranked Queen's Gaels a 2-1 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues in OUA men's soccer action at the West Campus Field, Saturday. Lobo's goal at the death broke a 1-1 tie, and gave the Gaels (8-1-1) sole possession of first place in the OUA East Division.
After a scoreless first half, Kilian Elkinson opened the scoring for U of T in the 64th minute.
Henry Bloemen responded for the Gaels seven minutes later to tie the contest back up, setting the stage for Lobo's dramatics.
The Gaels outshot Toronto 8-5, as
Dylan Maxwell made four saves to pick up the win. Rob Bruce-Lockhard made six saves in a losing effort for the Blues.
The Gaels return to action on Sunday, as they host the Ryerson Rams at the West Campus Field. Kickoff is set for 3:15 p.m.
