BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. – Chantal Morais (Guelph, Ont.) Taryn Pilon (Peterborough, Ont.) each scored two goals leading Queen's to a 5-1 win over UOIT on Sunday at the Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa.
 
The Gaels got a quick offensive start in the first period. Morais scored her first goal at 7:00 with assists by Shawna Griffin (Redwood Meadows, Alta.) and Courtenay Jacklin (Regina, Sask.). Queen's continued their offensive play and Pilon added a second goal at 10:39 assisted by Kristin Smith (Toronto, Ont.) and Jacklin. The Gaels outshot the Ridgebacks 12-6 in the first period.
 
The second period began on a Queen's power play allowing Pilon to add another goal just 26 seconds into play. The Ridgebacks continued to play defensively, but were unable to stop Morgan McHaffie (Guelph, Ont.) from scoring a power-play goal assisted by Brittany McHaffie (Guelph, Ont.) and Katie Duncan (Kitchener, Ont.) at 14:18 for the Gaels. The fourth Queen's goal chased UOIT starter Cassie Charette from the net. UOIT matched Queen's with 12 shots in the second period, but remained scoreless allowing the Gaels to hold on to their 4-0 advantage.
 
Samantha Forchielli put the Ridgebacks on the board with a power play goal scored at 3:09 assisted by Jennifer Daly (Ajax, Ont.) and Melissa Berney (Bowmansville, Ont.), the first goal scored against the Gaels thus far in the regular season and ending a 228:09 team shutout streak. Morais added a fifth and final goal for the Gaels in the last two minutes of the game. 
 
Mel Dodd-Moher (Stittsville, Ont.) had 24 saves for the Gaels. Cassie Charette had 20 saves for the Ridgebacks, while Jessica Larabie (Pickering, Ont.) added 17 saves.
 
Queen's is now 3-0-1 in the regular season and UOIT is now 2-2.
 
The Gaels return to action Friday, October 19, as they host the Brock Badgers at the Kingston Memorial Centre. Faceoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
