Pilon scores twice in 3-2 loss to Badgers

KINGSTON, Ont. (January 7, 2012) – The No. 7 Queen's Gaels (10-5-2) dropped their second game in as many nights 3-2 to the visiting Brock Badgers (7-7-1) on Saturday night at the Memorial Centre in Kingston.

Taryn Pilon of Peterborough, Ont. had a pair of goals in the loss, including one on the power play, while Hailey Webb of Orillia, Ont. scored the game winner for the Badgers. Karissa Savage of Calgary turned aside 28 shots for the Gaels while Brock's Emily Kelly of Port Elgin, Ont. stopped 30 of 32 for her first win of the season.

Pilon put the Gaels up by one late in the first period with her sixth goal of the year. Kelly Eustace of Oakville, Ont. and Samantha Regier of Westmeath, Ont. added the assists on the play.

Pilon would add another in the second, this time on the power play, with Guelph sisters Morgan and Brittany McHaffie adding the assists. Brock took advantage on the power play on two occasions of their own in the second on goals from Leigh Vanderveen of Niagara on the Lake, Ont. and Kristen Dewsbury of Oshawa, Ont.

The lone goal, and game winner, came in the third from Webb with only 3:26 remaining.

The Gaels return to the ice next Saturday January 14 when they travel to Toronto to take on the York Lions. Puck drop is set for 2pm.
