Mackenzie Simpson's team high 12 points was not enough to give the Gaels an edge over the Ryerson Rams this Friday evening in Kingston. The final score of the game was 78-50.
In the first quarter of action, the Gaels played the Rams tight and entered the second quarter down one point, 14-13. In the second and third quarter the Rams took control, outscoring the Gaels by 27 points.
The Rams defence proved a great challenge for the Gaels. They struggled shooting from the floor at only 31%, and gave up 26 turnovers. The Gaels did, however, hold their own on the boards, pulling down 31 rebounds, to equal the Rams. Queen's also shot well from the free throw line, at just under 90%.
Windsor, Ont. native Jordan Gauthier had a game-high 18 points for the Rams, while Michael Farine of Toronto added 11 for the Gaels.
The Gaels are back in action tomorrow evening versus the University of Toronto. Tipoff is set for 8:00.
