Annual athletes' breakfast a success

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (September 20, 2011) Athletics and Recreation hosted an Athletes' Breakfast this morning at Leonard Hall Cafeteria with varsity and club team athletes and coaches.

The event provides athletes a chance for not only a healthy breakfast to start their day but also a chance to learn about important issues and challenges that they face. Athletes will also be showing their Gaels pride around campus today sporting "Unleash your inner Gael" shirts.

This year, the keynote speaker was Brian Parker from the Taylor Hooton Foundation. Parker spoke to all athletes about the dangers and risks associated with anabolic steroids and supplement use.

The Taylor Hooton Foundation as an organization assist in raising awareness of the widespread nature of this problem among athletes. They educate US and Canadian youth and their adult influencers about the real dangers of anabolic steroids and other appearance and performance enhancing drugs.

The Taylor Hooton Foundation was founded in 2004 in memory Taylor E. Hooton, a 17-year old athlete from Plano, TX. Taylor committed suicide as a result of his anabolic steroid abuse.
