Gaels prepare to defend Carr-Harris Cup against Paladins

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (February 4, 2011) – On Saturday night, the Queen's Gaels men's hockey team will look to sweep the season series from the RMC Paladins as they battle in the 25th annual Carr-Harris Cup at Constantine Arena.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00pm.

Last season, the Gaels earned their third consecutive victory in the game as they defeated RMC by a score of 3-0. Ben Munroe of Kingston, Ont., David Chubb of St. George's, Nfld., and Jeffrey Johnstone of Etobicoke, Ont., all scored for the Gaels while Queen's goaltender Steele De Fazio of Georgetown, Ont., earned his first career shutout in the victory. The shutout was the fourth all-time in the series with all four being posted by Queen's goaltenders.

Gaels forward Payton Liske of Welland, Ont., was named the game MVP for Queen's after picking up an assist on Munroe's game-winning goal. RMC forward Ken Morin was named RMC's game MVP.

So far this year, Queen's and RMC have met on two different occasions with the Gaels earning victories in both games. The Gaels posted a 6-1 victory in their first meeting back on Jan. 6, 2011 and followed that up two weeks later with a 4-2 win.

All-time, Queen's leads the historic series with a 14-8-2 record in the previous 24 games.

The Carr-Harris Cup series, originally billed as the Causeway Challenge, was inaugurated in 1986 as part of the Kingston Centennial Committee of the International Hockey Hall of Fame and was commissioned to celebrate a century of hockey competition between RMC and Queen's.
