BOX SCORE KINGSTON, Ont. (February 11, 2011) – Queen's
Hanna Koposhynska of Toronto recorded her first CIS career double-double posting 10 points and 18 rebounds in 74-67 win over the York Lions in OUA women's basketball action on Friday.
The win kept Queen's playoff hopes very much alive and they sit in a three way tie for fifth place in the OUA East division with York and Laurentian. All three teams hold a 5-15 record.
Laurentian won its game against Royal Military College (RMC) 62-49 to maintain its pace with the Gaels. The loss for the Lions is the team's 10th in a row after starting the season 5-5.
Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont., led Queen's with a game high 21 points while
Gemma Bullard of Guelph, Ont., tallied 19.
Koposhynska also recorded career highs in rebounds (18) and blocks (6). She was named the Queen's player of the game.
York's Nadia Qahwalsh of Kitchener, Ont., was York's top player tallying 19 points. She was followed Brittany Szockyj of Niagara on the Lake, Ont., who had 17 points. Llyandra Kerr of Markham, Ont., was York's top rebounder with 10.
The Gaels will tackle the Laurentian Lady Vees tomorrow night while York will face winless RMC across town. The season winds down on next Friday with Queen's taking on RMC and York hosting Laurentian.
If Queen's can top Laurentian tomorrow it will guarantee them a berth in the OUA playoffs which begin February 23. Tipoff is set for 6:00pm at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC) on campus at Queen's University.
NOTES: This was Bullard's third consecutive games where she has broke double digits.
