Gaels score first but lose 10-1 to UQTR

KINGSTON, Ont. (November 26, 2011) – The Gaels (14-11-3) dropped a 10-1 decision at the hands of the UQTR Patriotes (19-8-1) on Saturday night OUA hockey action. Queen's captain Jonathon Lawrance of Steinbach, Man. scored the lone goal for the Gaels in the loss.

It would be the Gaels' captain Lawrance who opened the scoring after he beat the Patriotes starting netminder Guillaume Nadeau of St. Jean Chrysostome Que. with his fourth goal of the season. The goal came 5:42 into the first period as Queen's took an early 1-0 lead. Less than one minute later UQTR evened the game at 1-1 when Patriotes forward Felix Petit of Jonquiere, Que. notched his tenth goal of the season.

After finishing the first frame tied at 1-1 it was all UQTR from the second on. The Patriotes scored six times in the second and 10 straight goals in total to go on to a 10-1 win.

Petit finished with two goals and two helpers while Joncas Pierre-Alexandre of Matane, Que. added two and two of his own.

Queen's will return to action in the New Year as they take on RMC at the Memorial Centre on January 3 at 7:30pm.
