BOX SCORE WATERLOO, Ont. (November 18, 2011) - The Queen's Gaels (2-1) women's basketball team was in Waterloo on Friday night taking on the Laurier Golden Hawks (2-1) who managed a 80-60 win over the visiting Gaels.
The Golden Hawks held an early lead at the end of the first half after strong shooting from the Laurier team. In the third quarter the Gaels managed to cut a Golden Hawk lead to nine points but strong shooting continued to come from Laurier which helped to put the game away with an 80-60 final.
"We didn't handle the ball particularly well, but we really were very weak on defence and were exploited by a lot of three point shots by Laurier," said head coach
Dave Wilson on the game. "We got off to a good start in the third and managed to cut the lead to nine but they kept coming down and hitting three's."
Statistics to follow.
The Gaels will take on the University of Waterloo tomorrow night at 6pm in Waterloo.
