WATERLOO, Ont. (November 11, 2011) - The No. 8 Queen's Gaels couldn't keep pace with the No. 3 Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday night as the Gaels dropped a 5-2 decision to Laurier.
The Golden Hawks got off to a quick start in the opening frame with a pair of goals. First it was Brittany Crago of Stouffville, Ont. who netted Laurier a 1-0 lead, just over a minute later Abby Rainsberry of Petrolia, Ont. scored her fourth of the season to give the Golden Hawks a 2-0 advantage.

Morgan McHaffie of Guelph, Ont. secured her ninth of the season to cut the Golden Hawk lead to only one after the first period of play.
Brittany McHaffie of Guelph, Ont. and
Alex Cieslowski of Oakville, Ont. added the helpers.
In the second period the Gaels would even the game at 2-2 when
Shawna Griffin of Redwood Meadows, Alta. would convert on the powerplay. The goal was set up by
Mary Coughlin of Amhertsburg, Ont. and
Alana Smith of Aurora, Ont.
With the game deadlocked at two midway through the final frame it would be the Golden Hawks that pulled away scoring three straight times. Blair Connelly of Amhertsburg, Ont., Tammy Freiburger of Wingham, Ont. and Paula Lagamba of Toronto scored for Laurier as they finished with a 5-2 victory.
Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont. got the start for the Gaels making 28 stops in a losing effort.
The Gaels are back in action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues in Toronto.
