KINGSTON, Ont. (October 29, 2011) –
Corey Bureau of Amhertsview, Ont. scored the game winner in overtime to lead the Gaels (5-2) over the Varsity Blues (4-1-1) on Saturday night.
After a scoreless first period,
Jonathon Lawrance of Steinbach, Man. gave the Gaels a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded marker, his third goal on the season.
Scott Kenway of Calgary and Steven Tressierra of Golden, B.C. added the assists.
The Blue would tie things up at one just over five minutes later before Corey scored his first goal of the night. The Blue tied the game once again to close out the second and took a 3-2 lead only 38 seconds in to the final period.
It would be Corey who responded for the Gaels with his second of the night, forcing the game into overtime.
Only 1:02 into the extra frame Corey completed the hat trick scoring the game winner.
Brendan Bureau of Amhertsview, Ont. and
Tyler Moore of Winnipeg added the assists on the game winner.
Corey is now first (tie) in scoring in the OUA with his seven goals in seven games.
Riley Whitlock of Calgary stopped 43 of 45 shots for the win.
Next the Gaels will travel to Ottawa to take on the Gee Gees on November 4.
