BOX SCORE 2 SUDBURY, Ont. (January 7, 2011) - Queen's
Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., recorded 24 points in a 75-54 loss to the Laurentian Voyageurs as the second half of the OUA men's basketball schedule kicked off on Friday.
Bannister was the games top scorer finishing 11 for 18 from the field and added two rebounds in the loss. This was the fifth time he has recorded over 20 points this season and his third highest total of the year.
Ryan Golden of Barrie, Ont., was the only other Gael to break double digit scoring tallying 13 points in the loss for Queen's.
Laurentian's Mike Hull of Victoria, B.C. notched a double double in the win posting 22 points and a game high 10 rebounds. The brother combo of Manny and Isiah Pasquale also broke into double digits. The Victoria, B.C., natives tallied 17 and 15 points respectively.
Laurentian gained an eary 19-10 lead in the opening quarter, but Queen's would post 21 points in the second quarter to pull the game to 38-31 at the half. However, Laurentian controlled the pace in the third quarter opening up a 15 point advantage heading into the final frame.
Queen's sits in a three way tie for fifth place of OUA East Division with Ottawa and Ryerson. All three teams have four points but both Ryerson and Ottawa have a game in hand.
The Gaels will look to rebound from the loss as they take on the York Lions tomorrow at York University beginning at 8:00pm. York has eight points and holds fourth place in the OUA East Division.
