Gaels fall on the road to Toronto

BOX SCORE TORONTO (January 22, 2011) – The Queen's Gaels women's basketball team was unable to pull out a road victory in Toronto Saturday evening as they lost to the Toronto Varsity Blues 82-48, extending their losing streak to four.

The Gaels kept it close in the first half and trailed 32-25 at half time. But the Blues outscored the Gaels 22-12 in the third quarter and 28-11 in the fourth to ensure their victory.

Brittany Moore of Hannon, Ont., led the Gaels in scoring with 11 points and first year point guard Liz Boag of Kingston, Ont., added 10. Gemma Bullard of Guelph, Ont., was the leading rebounder for Queen's pulling down nine rebounds.

Nicki Schutz of Toronto, led the Varsity Blues to victory with 28 points including shooting 3 of 4 from three point range.

With the loss that Gaels slip to 3-12 on the season putting them in sixth place in the OUA East.

Next weekend, the Gaels travel to Ottawa to take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees Friday, January 28th at 6:00pm and the Carleton Ravens, Saturday, January 29th at 6:00pm.
