Zeeman continues strong play as Gaels sweep Lancers

WINDSOR, Ont. (January 21, 2011) – Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., continued his excellent season as he recorded 16 kills and six digs in the Queen's Gaels (11-3) three set victory over the Windsor Lancers (6-9) Friday night.

Set scores were 25-21, 25-20, 25-21.

Zeeman's performance was the fourth consecutive match that the fourth year outside hitter has reached double-digits in kills. He now ranks seventh in the nation in kills per set with 3.88.

Niko Rukavina of Mississauga, Ont., also reached double-digits in kills, finishing the match with 10. Alex Oneid of Ottawa, led the Gaels in digs with nine.

The Lancers Harrison Oake of Rodney, Ont., was the top performer on the night for Windsor as he finished the match with eight kills and six digs. Windsor has now lost six games in a row after starting the season 6-3.

Up next for the Gaels is a critical showdown with the Western Mustangs on Saturday night. After losing to the Mustangs in five sets in November, the Gaels will be looking to exact a measure of revenge and pull to within two points of Western in the OUA standings. Game time is set for 8:00 pm.
