Rams pull away in second half to hand Gaels fifth straight defeat

BOX SCORE TORONTO (January 21, 2011) – Jahmal Jones of Mississauga, Ont., scored 25 points as the Ryerson Rams (5-8) defeated the Queen's Gaels (2-12) 89-50 Friday night in Toronto.

After a tight first half, the Rams pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Gaels 48-14 to earn the victory.

Luke Staniscia of Pefferlaw, Ont., also had a strong game for Ryerson, finishing with 19 points on 7 of 8 shooting from the floor. Jordon Gauthier of Windsor, Ont., also reached double-digits as he scored 14 points.

Dan Bannister of Newmarket, Ont., was the only Queen's player to reach double-digits in scoring on the night as he finished with 13 points.

Turnovers proved to be the Gaels undoing on the night as they turned the ball over 28 times compared to just eight assists. Meanwhile the Rams turned the ball over just 13 times while posting 12 assists in the game.

The Gaels will be back in action tomorrow night when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
