Chamberlain scores game winner over Carleton

KINGSTON, Ont. (September 28, 2010) – Kelli Chamberlain of North Bay, Ont., scored the winning goal to lead the No. 5 Queen's Gaels to a 2-1 victory over the Carleton Ravens at Richardson Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

The goal was Chamberlain's fifth of the regular season placing her in a tie for second in the OUA in scoring.

The Gaels took the lead midway through the first half when Jennifer Hutchinson of St. John's, Nfld., was able to find the back of the net.

Late in the first half Carleton had a response with a goal from Shayla LaVecchia of Ottawa, Ont.

The Gaels would not allow the score to be tied for long. Chamberlain scored the game winning goal in the opening minutes of the first half.

After the goal, the Gaels clamped down onto their lead and kept the score at 2-1 until the final whistle blew.

The win improves the Gaels record to 8-1-0 as they continue to lead the OUA East.

The Gaels next game is in Kingston at 1:00 pm Saturday afternoon against the RMC Paladins.
