Tessier propels Gaels past Nipissing

| By:
KINGSTON, Ont. (September 25, 2010) – Jacqueline Tessier, of Winnipeg Man., scored two goals in the second half to lead the No. 7 Queen's Gaels to a come-from-behind victory over the Nipissing Lakers Saturday afternoon at Tindall Field.

Nipissing took the lead with a goal midway through the first half, but within minutes Kelli Chamberlain, of North Bay, Ont., had a goal of her own to tie the score up 1-1. In the dying seconds of the first half Nipissing striker, Nicole Arromba, of Bradford Ont., was able to find the back of the net and gave the Lakers a 2-1 lead at half time.

The second half was Tessier's time to shine. Midway through the second half Tessier scored to tie the game up. Tessier scored her second of the game later in the half to give the Gaels a 3-2 they would not relinquish.

Tessier continues to lead the CIS in scoring with 12 goals, and is already just two goals shy of beating last season's OUA scoring leader who finished with 14 goals.

The Gaels' win improves their record to 6-1-0 and they have not lost to the Lakers since September 13, 2008.

The Gaels next game is against the Laurentian Lady Vees tomorrow at 12:00pm at Richardson Stadium.
