Gaels swept by Guelph and Brock in opening weekend of OUA season

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (September 14, 2010) - The Queen's Gaels baseball team dropped both of their doubleheaders this weekend, losing 10-2 and 12-9 to Guelph and 8-4 and 11-0 to Brock.

KEY PERFORMERS

- Game 1 vs. Guelph: DH Razi Shafiq was 2 for 2 with two RBI's and two walks, SP Robbie Libman pitched eight innings for Queen's
- Game 2 vs. Guelph: 3B Dave Boccia went 3 for 4 with an RBI, RF Kirby Davidson went 2 for 4 with an RBI, while 2B Will Mathieson and C Jamie Dalton drove in 2 runs apiece.
- Game 1 vs. Brock: SP Stephen McDonald held the Badgers to just two runs over six innings, RF Kirby Davidson stayed hot with a 3 for 4 day, and SS Graham Skelhorne-Gross stepped up with a double, a single, an RBI and 2 stolen bases.

NOTES

- Performance of the weekend belonged to McDonald who shutdown one of the top teams in the OUA over six innings
- The team showed tremendous improvement from a year ago and were competitive in each game.
