Women's rugby shuts out Badgers in season opener

| By:
ST. CATHARINES, Ont. (September 11, 2010) - The No. 10 Queen's Gaels women's rugby team started their quest to top last season's fourth place finish the way they had hoped with a 24-0 victory over the Brock Badgers.

Queen's was led offensively by Samantha Trinier of Toronto who scored two tries for the Gaels. She was also joined on the score sheet by Toronto's Sarah Pathak and All-Canadian Andrea Wadsworth who both added a try each. Annika Rinas, another Oakville native, rounded out the Gaels scoring with two converts.

This marks the second consecutive year that Andrea Wadsworth has played a large role in a Gaels victory over Brock as she recorded two tries in last season's 23-10 victory over the Badgers. The Gaels have now beaten the Badgers the last five times the teams have met.

Queen's will open up their home schedule next week as they take on the York Lions (0-1) on Kingston Field.
