Top results for Queen’s at Canadian Indoor Rowing Championship

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. (February 8, 2010) – Sean Whitehall of Wainfleet, Ont., struck gold at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championship held at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ont., on Sunday.

Whitehall, a member of the Queen's rowing squad claimed first place in the Coxswain Challenge. Other top results came from Andrew Joyce of Peterborough, Ont., who placed fourth in the senior men event, while Katya Herman of Sudbury, Ont., placed sixth in the senior lightweight women. Herman was competing against other Canadian national team members.

Orillia natives Sarah Pidgen and Elizabeth Carter placed seventh and 10th in the Under 23 competition, while Madeline O'Shaughnessy-Hunter of Brockville, Ont. was 28th in the senior women event.

All races were competed on Concept II rowing ergo meters over a 2000m distance. The event annually attracts rowers and paddlers from elementary school athletes to Olympic medallists and are at multiple venues across Canada.
