Mel Dodd-Moher of Stittsville, Ont., led the Gaels women's hockey team to their fourth victory in a row with a 4-1 victory over the Western Mustangs.
Dodd-Moher stopped 16 of 17 shots for her fifth consecutive win as Queen's allowed little pressure in their own end.
The victory, combined with a York loss, also allowed the Gaels to clinch second place in the OUA and with it, a first round playoff bye.
Western took an early lead just 34 seconds into the first period when Veronica Johnson of Oshawa, Ont., beat Dodd-Moher. Dodd-Moher, however, would not have another blemish on the night.
Jesse Cone of Winnipeg, scored her second of the season to knot things up at one at 11:55 of the first period.
Becky Conroy of Pembroke, Ont., assisted on Cone's goal and scored the game winner 8:43 into the second period with her 15th of the season.
Elizabeth Kench of Gananoque, Ont., had a multiple point game scoring an insurance marker at 11:20 of the third period. Kench also assisted on
Alana Smith#'s (Aurora, Ont.) empty netter to round out the scoring with 21 seconds left.
Queen's outshot their opponent badly for the second straight game firing 31 shots on Jessica Ulrich of Keswick, Ont.
The Gaels will finish off their regular season on the road next weekend with visits to the undefeated Laurier Golden Hawks and the Waterloo Warriors. Looking for their season-best fifth straight win, Queen's will tangle will the Golden Hawks on February 13th at 3:00pm at Sun Life Arena in Waterloo. The following day, they will face Waterloo at 2:00pm at Columbia Ice Field in Waterloo.
