Zeeman’s 24 points help Queen’s to 3-2 victory over Guelph

GUELPH, Ont. (February 19, 2010) – Joren Zeeman of Cambridge, Ont., led the Queen's Gaels with 24 points as the men's volleyball team defeated the Guelph Gryphons 3-2 in Guelph, Ont., on Friday. Zeeman registered 22 kills, one block and one ace to put the Gryphons away 25-27, 25-18, 19-25, 25-21, 15-13.

Niko Rukavina of Mississauga, Ont., contributed 13 points in the game with nine kills, three blocks, and an ace, as well as defensively with seven digs. Michael Amoroso of Toronto had 12 points on seven kills, one ace and four blocks in the win. Queen's setter, Daniel Rosenbaum of Hamilton, Ont., played all five matches, leading the team with 56 assists and 10 digs.

Andrew Revie of Guelph, Ont., led the Gryphons with 16 points with 8 kills, 6 blocks, and 2 aces. Winston Rosser of Whitby, Ont., led Guelph in kills with 11, while Guelph libero Gabriel Degroot of Langley, Ont., had 17 digs in the loss.

The win improves the Gaels record to 15-4 and they maintain second place in the OUA trailing the McMaster Marauders by two points.

Entering their final game of the season, the Gaels are riding a five game winning streak. They play the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks to conclude the regular season tomorrow at 8:00pm in Waterloo, Ont.

NOTES: Zeeman currently leads the OUA in kills per set averaging 4.21.
